Second annual Balloons over Horseshoe Bay Resort to feature special shaped balloons, live music and more

Austin's own Reckless Kelly to perform live after Saturday's balloon glow finale at Horseshoe Bay Resort's Jet Center

(HORSESHOE BAY, Texas) - More than 20 hot-air balloons from across America will converge at the second annual Balloons over Horseshoe Bay Resort on Easter weekend, April 18-20, at the AAA four-diamond Horseshoe Bay Resort. This year's festival will feature new activities including: historic war plane flyovers, powered parachutes and award-winning live music.

Two special shaped balloons highlight this year's balloon entries. Spunky the Flying Skunk and The Purple People Eater are two balloons sure to grab the crowd's attention. Like last year, balloon glows will be held on both Friday and Saturday evenings of the festival.

Friday's opening night festivities (open to resort overnight VIP package guests only) will include tethered hot-air balloon rides for all attendees, live music by Sauce the Band, and a BBQ dinner buffet.

Saturday's festivities (open to the public) starts with a balloon ascension scheduled for 7:00 a.m. Powered parachute demonstrations and a WWII historic aircraft flyover highlight a busy Saturday morning schedule. Alamo Helicopters will provide helicopter rides throughout the day with wine tastings and an antique car show rounding out the day's activities at the Horseshoe Bay Resort Jet Center.

Saturday evening will include skydivers, the Balloon glow grand finale and a concert by Austin's own Reckless Kelly.

Tickets for Saturday's festivities are $20 per adult. Children 12 and under are admitted free with parent (limit two children per accompanying parent). Public parking will be available at Horseshoe Bay Resort's Summit Rock Golf Club with complimentary shuttles running to and from the festival entrance starting on Saturday morning at 6:00 a.m.

On Sunday, the festival will conclude with private balloon rides in the morning and a Gospel Brunch featuring Pamela Hart, live in concert, at the Palm D'Or Pavilion at Horseshoe Bay Resort.

Festival VIP Packages start at $399 per room and include accommodations and access to all three days of the festival, including Friday night's dinner and Easter Sunday's gospel brunch. To book your reservations call 877-258-4512 or visit balloonsoverhsbresort.com.

Public tickets are available for Saturday only and can be purchased online at balloonsoverhsbresort.com.

Attendees are advised to book early as last year's festival sold out.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

FAIR. Water stained; 74 degrees; 0.27 feet below pool. Crappie are fair in 10-20 feet of water on brush piles with chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Bass are good with a few fish on beds, but there are still plenty in the backs of pockets so use shallow moving baits like a wake bait, swimbait or frog to get some of those good ones. Skipping docks is always a good way to load the boat too using a weightless wacky worm or a jig to get some good bites. Do not forget to run the bulkheads with a shallow crank, fluke or frog. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.
