Learn to camp: sign up now for fall workshops




Want to plan a unique family weekend? Want to get the kids out in nature? Try something radically different. Learn how to camp at a Texas Outdoor Family workshop. The camping experts at TPWD will teach you how to pitch a tent, paddle a canoe, fish, geocache and make that all-important morning coffee.

You can bring up to six people per site, your bedding and your food. TPWD provides the rest, including equipment and instruction. The cost is just $65 for one-night workshops and $85 per family for two-night workshops.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Mar. 20)

FAIR. Water stained; 62 degrees; 0.29 feet below pool. Crappie are fair in 4-12 feet of water with orange and chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Lake LBJ has been on fire as of late with bass catches up to and over 10 pounds. Work chatterbaits, flukes and wake baits in pockets and flip a worm or lizard around the beds along the edges of pockets, coves and canals. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.
