Wow, this summer ‘vacation’ (for some of us) flew by! August is usually the hottest month of the summer and this year is certainly no exception. But, with school just around the corner, don’t let the heat keep you cooped up inside. It’s the perfect time to head over to the lake and enjoy some incredible events that make for wonderful family time - no matter how old the kids are. So, if you don’t have plans to close out the summer or kick off the school year (however you choose to look at it) - let us give you some ideas!
LakeFest Drag Boat Race
This year, the 25th annual Drag Boat Races are held August 12th through the 14th on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls. Gates open at 7am each morning and the races begin at 9. Enjoy food, drinks, and even live music entertainment after the races are over! Each boat on the water will rev up their engines and compete at over 260mph across the lake for over $100,000 in prizes for the winners at the end on Sunday. If you’ve never been - this is definitely one for the books!
Summer Concert Series
Every summer, in the city of Burnet, the Chamber of Commerce holds a Summer Concert Series featuring local talent to bring the city and visitors together. This month, you can enjoy the last concert of the summer on August 20th at the Haley Nelson Amphitheatre - gates open at 6:30 and talent takes the stage an hour later.
Highland Lakes Farmers Market
Last, but certainly not least, you can check out dozens of local vendors at the Highland Lakes Farmers Market every Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm in Marble Falls at Falls Creek Park.
