Whether you’re visiting the area or simply looking for new things to do, you can’t go wrong exploring nearby towns. While many people visit to stay on the lake, surrounding cities like Kingsland, Marble Falls, and Horseshoe Bay each have their own unique charm. Roughly 48 miles northwest of Austin, Marble Falls is a small city that borders Lake LBJ and offers hundreds of creative and engaging events throughout the year.
Market Day
Every so often, the city holds a “Market Day” on Main Street which runs through downtown Marble Falls. If you’re planning a trip to the area, the next Main Street Market Day is March 5th from 9am to 4pm. Spend the day exploring hundreds of local craft vendors - from antiques to jewelry and even clothing - there really is something for everyone. Don’t forget to grab a snack from one of the local food vendors while you shop! After March, the next Market Day will be in May. If you can’t make it this weekend, mark your calendars for May 7th.
Texas High School Bass Fishing State Championship
Marble Falls is hosting the Texas High School Bass Fishing State Championship once again this year on March 15th. Anglers in grades 9-12 will team up to compete to advance to the national championship where they could even win scholarships for college. The competition will be held at the LBJ Yacht Club and Marina on LBJ Reservoir. If you fit the criteria and want to put your fishing skills to the test - you can pre-register for the competition online!
Paint The Town
At the end of March, the Marble Falls Community Arts Program is putting on an event perfect for aspiring and talented artists. This year, the 10th annual “Paint the Town” art auction will be held from March 30th to April 2nd. Participating artists are encouraged to bring previous works of art to sell in the gallery, but that’s not all - these talented locals will paint during the event to enter a competition for several different prizes.
Even if you’re visiting the area to spend the weekend on the lake, check out these neat events in town!
