Golfing Go-To's Around Lake LBJ

Are you gearing up to tee off this summer? Really though, golfing is great no matter the season! So let’s discuss three great golf courses around Lake LBJ that we think you’ll have a blast at. And remember: August is the hottest month of summer. So bring with you enough water to stay hydrated while you’re out there!

Blue Lake Golf Club

We can’t wait for you to tee off at this course. Blue Lake Golf Club was designed by famous golf course designer, Joe Finger, all the way back in 1962. This course has been described as a “lakeside slice of heaven.” On this course of nine holes you’ll find plenty of wildlife and scenic views of the beautiful Texas hill country.

Legends Golf Course

Next, Legends Golf Course is masterfully designed; you’ll love the scenic views. Only sixty miles from downtown Austin, this lakeside golf course is located on Lake LBJ in Kingsland, Texas. Its 8th hole rests alongside Lake LBJ, and the property is of course surrounded by the lake. If you enjoy golfing, you likely enjoy the outdoors, and if so, then this golf course is a fantastic place to be.

Apple Rock Golf Course

Finally, we have Apple Rock Golf Course, which is an eighteen hole course that’s perfectly designed for your enjoyment. You may find that the twelfth hole is the most scenic; it’s where Lake LBJ intersects with the course. You won’t want to miss it, let us tell you! Start planning your next golfing trip!

There are plenty of other places to tee off around the lake, but we can only cover so much! We hope you’ve enjoyed our tour through these three golf courses surrounding Lake LBJ. As always, we wish you a fun (and safe) time out there by the lake! Happy golfing!

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

FAIR. Water stained; 74 degrees; 0.27 feet below pool. Crappie are fair in 10-20 feet of water on brush piles with chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Bass are good with a few fish on beds, but there are still plenty in the backs of pockets so use shallow moving baits like a wake bait, swimbait or frog to get some of those good ones. Skipping docks is always a good way to load the boat too using a weightless wacky worm or a jig to get some good bites. Do not forget to run the bulkheads with a shallow crank, fluke or frog. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.
