Lake LBJ Spring Break Fun Activities for the Whole Family

Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, popularly known as Lake LBJ, is located in the Highland Lakes region of Central Texas. The hilly terrain provides a lot of fun activities to do and exciting places to visit.

There's a lot you can do while taking a spring break at Lake LBJ, from jet skiing, horseback riding, fishing, and swimming to playing golf on an 18-hole golf course, tackling ATV trails, taking wine tours, and exploring the Longhorn caverns.

If you are up to the challenge, you can even jump off the rock bluff at Devil's Waterhole. The amount of fun you can have at Lake LBJ is only limited by how far you want to go.

Vacation Rentals at Lake LBJ

There are excellent vacation rentals in Lake LBJ. Most of them provide luxurious accommodation with breathtaking views of the lake’s pristine waters and other scenic natural features of the area.

The vacation rentals are also within easy access to most of the area's attractions such as caverns, fishing spots, hiking and biking trails, restaurants, and much more.

Visit the Longhorn Caverns State Park

One of the most iconic attractions in Lake LBJ is the Longhorn Caverns State Park. The park is named after a limestone cavern which used to be an underground river in the past.

The cavern was later used by Native American Indians, confederate soldiers, and outlaws as a hiding place before it was transformed into a tourist attraction.

It even used to be a speakeasy in the prohibition period. You can spend a whole afternoon exploring the caverns and learn a lot about the history of Texas.

Fishing on Lake LBJ

Fishing is another popular activity at Lake LBJ. The lake provides a wide variety of fish including sand bass, catfish, largemouth bass, and crappie to just mention a few.

You can also rent a small fishing boat at the marina to access the best fishing spots such as Sandy Creek and Elm Creek. Depending on the lake and weather conditions, you might even be able to catch the Spring crappie and sand bass spawn on one of the creeks feeding the lake.

If this is your first time at Lake LBJ, you may want to hire a fishing guide to show you the best fishing spots and the best places to get your fishing gear.
