Spend your Thanksgiving morning at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area jogging either a one, three, or five mile run with a park ranger. Turkey Trot is a brand new Thanksgiving tradition for Texas' favorite granite-domed park, providing parkgoers the opportunity to burn off some calories before their Turkey Day feasts, as well as some "post Trot" goodies.

The one mile run, which is truthfully 1.2 miles will take place on a round-trip hike to the dome summit. The three mile jog will commence through the lower trails in the park, and that beastly five mile run will follow the Loop Trail. Guests should bring their own reusable water bottle, trail-friendly running shoes, and appropriate clothing. A donation of $10 is suggested, in addition to the park's $7 entry fee.

All runs start at 9 a.m. To reserve your spot or request more information, contact Scott Whitener at 830-685-3636 or [email protected]

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

FAIR. Water stained; 74 degrees; 0.27 feet below pool. Crappie are fair in 10-20 feet of water on brush piles with chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Bass are good with a few fish on beds, but there are still plenty in the backs of pockets so use shallow moving baits like a wake bait, swimbait or frog to get some of those good ones. Skipping docks is always a good way to load the boat too using a weightless wacky worm or a jig to get some good bites. Do not forget to run the bulkheads with a shallow crank, fluke or frog. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.
