A Letter From TX Hill Country Concierge Founder, Clay Cauble

Dear Lake LBJ Community, The decision to leave Midland to join my fiancee in the Texas Hill Country was not a hard one to make. I traded in the West Texas wind and dirt for God's country, and to be with the one that I loved. At the time that I proposed to Heather I was helping run my family company. I was able to walk into my office every day and see my family, and I was able to grow and serve a community that I loved so much! Looking back on it now it was such a blessing in my life, but, like many relationship decisions, sacrifices have to be made. Heather wanted to be back in the Hill Country and I couldn't blame her. With the love and support of my family and friends I was going to start a new chapter in my life. The question on everyone's mind, including my own, was what about my career? I had a successful corporate career after college, and I also got to experience the responsibilities of running a successful small business. I started sending out numerous resumes to businesses looking for a marketing position but was not getting the feedback I was hoping for. I was discussing my frustration to a friend in my bible study when he pitched the idea of becoming a property manager on the lake. He said "These people need someone like you to look after their place." Wow, start my own company? I discussed it with Heather and my family, and without hesitation they supported me. I'm so blessed! I knew if I followed thru with this it wouldn't be easy, but if it was easy everyone would do it! After two weeks of long deliberation I put my house up for sale and started working on my business plan. What was my business plan? Well, I remembered some of my favorite memories growing up were coming to Lake LBJ with friends and family, but I also remembered that there were also a lot of chores to be done before and after any of those memories could be made. I saw a need for someone to help with secondary vacation homes even back then. There was no need to travel hours to a beautiful oasis and end up spending a huge majority of your lake time doing annoying chores. That's why I took my friends advice and started TX Hill Country Concierge. I knew from experience that a property is like a fine tuned machine, and it's hard to keep up with that secondary property when you lived miles and miles away. The goal that Heather and I discussed was to build a very personal business relationship with our clients, and give them someone they can trust take away those tasks and give them back their lake time! We got settled in at our new home in Horseshoe Bay and have been living here for about a year now. The business website (www.hillcountryconcierge.com) was launched in late August, and we have been getting a lot of support from my Midland community that has secondary homes in the HSB area. We look forward to starting our lives together in this awesome community and getting involved as much as possible. The Horseshoe Bay Business Alliance has been fantastic as they have extended an open invitation to us. We have enjoyed our Sunday worship with the Church of Horseshoe Bay and the teachings of Pastor White. Our friends around town have gone out of their way to support us as a new business, and to them we are truly thankful! We may be new to HSB but the community has embraced us as one of their own, and we look forward to what's in store for us here. Sincerely, Clay & Heather Cauble hillcountryconcierge.com

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

FAIR. Water stained; 74 degrees; 0.27 feet below pool. Crappie are fair in 10-20 feet of water on brush piles with chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Bass are good with a few fish on beds, but there are still plenty in the backs of pockets so use shallow moving baits like a wake bait, swimbait or frog to get some of those good ones. Skipping docks is always a good way to load the boat too using a weightless wacky worm or a jig to get some good bites. Do not forget to run the bulkheads with a shallow crank, fluke or frog. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.
