5 Family Activities When You're Camping this Summer

Now that summer is in full swing, it’s time to start planning your time away from home and home life. It’s time to start planning your camping trip! Camping is a great activity for the summer, especially out here on Lake LBJ. Today we’ll go over 5 fun activities for you and the family to try out while you’re camping on the lake- and we hope you enjoy them!

Swimming

Swimming is an obvious go-to! Pack your swimsuits, your sunscreen, and maybe a pool toy or two! You’ll have a blast splashing each other and maybe even squirting at each other with water guns! It’s also a great way to cool off when you need a break from the summer heat.

Fishing

Get ready to catch a big one! Whether you’re fishing from the shore or from your boat, you’re bound to have a great time out there on the water. Just be sure to pack enough food and water to keep you hydrated and having fun!

Scavenger Hunt

Designing a scavenger hunt is a great idea, and it gets the kiddos involved! Pair up, or split into teams and search for things in nature like leaves, plants, or even certain types of bugs and insects. You can even assign bonus points to a select item or animal!

Telling Stories by the Campfire

Another great family activity is building a campfire and telling stories while roasting marshmallows. The kids will cherish these memories for years to come, and you’ll have the most relaxing time.

Boating

Cruising on Lake LBJ is a family favorite. Pack your drinks and snacks, grab your towels and sunscreen, and go for a boat ride with the family! Everyone will enjoy themselves and maybe catch a few rays, too! You can also participate in water sports like tubing, skiing, or jet skiing.
