Join the park rangers at Inks Lake State Park on February 28 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. for an evening of hiking, stargazing, and owl and bat watching at Stumpy Hollow. The hike will be one mile long with some elevation gain, so wear durable shoes. Expect to encounter cool evening temperatures and don't forget to bring along some water, bug spray, and a flashlight.

The event is free, but you'll need to pay the park entry fee. Meet at the Pecan Flats Trailhead. For more logistics, visit the event page at https://tpwd.texas.gov/calendar/owl-prowl-24 or contact Sean Jones at 512-793-4689 or [email protected]

Fishing Report from TPWD (May 1)

FAIR. Water stained; 74 degrees; 0.25 feet below pool. Crappie are fair in 10-20 feet of water on brush piles with chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Bass are good flipping docks with wacky rigged stick worms, jigs and flukes. Working along bulkheads will catch some good ones throwing shallow crankbaits, wake baits and frogs. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.
