Fishing Report from TPWD (Jan. 12)

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 50 degrees; 0.67 feet low. Crappie are fair in 30-35 feet of water in the main river channel biting on minnows and orange/black jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham of Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Largemouth bass are fair to good biting on crawfish crankbaits, red rattle traps, and crawfish imitation soft plastics, and finesse jigs. Some largemouth are mixed in with white bass by underwater green lights at night. White, hybrid, striped bass are fair vertically jigging spoons in the river channel, and under green lights at night. Catfish are slow to fair jigging spoons in the schools of white bass. They are hanging out under feeding schools of white fish finishing off the fallen shad. Winter is the time to catch those lunkers using cut or live shad, and live or cut perch. Report by Lee Benton, Fishing Guide Austin.
