3 of Your Favorite Camping Activities

It’s the end of the summer, friends. It’s time to get one last camping trip in for the season. Head on out to Lake LBJ for a great time- and just to get you excited for your upcoming trip, we’re going to go over three of our favorite camping activities! Here they are:

Building a Campfire

There’s nothing that makes for a good ambiance like a decent, burning campfire. You can spend time with the kiddos gathering wood, and it can easily become a group activity. And once your campfire is built, you’ll have the best time sitting around it, talking about your camping trip fun!

Board Games, Outdoor Games

Whether you’re camping in a camper, or in a tent, you can bring out the board games for some old-fashioned fun! Checkers is great for playing with children, or maybe Yahtzee for adults.

Outside, you can set up Ladder Ball and host a full competition. Children will also enjoy playing a good game of hide and go seek on the trails or around the campsite!

Swimming and/or Boating

Summer is coming to an end, so this is the perfect time to jump in the water before the boat goes to storage, and the suit goes in the drawer! Whether you’re boating out on Lake LBJ or just swimming around the shore, we know you’ll have a great time. And of course, don’t forget to wear the appropriate amount of sunscreen and bring along a hat and sunglasses- summer may be ending, but the UV is intense!

We hope, with these three ideas, that we’ve sparked your creativity and inspired you to finally get on to planning that last camping trip! So hurry up, before the fall is here! Not that fall camping isn’t fun, but you definitely want to get in while the water’s still warm.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

FAIR. Water stained; 74 degrees; 0.27 feet below pool. Crappie are fair in 10-20 feet of water on brush piles with chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Bass are good with a few fish on beds, but there are still plenty in the backs of pockets so use shallow moving baits like a wake bait, swimbait or frog to get some of those good ones. Skipping docks is always a good way to load the boat too using a weightless wacky worm or a jig to get some good bites. Do not forget to run the bulkheads with a shallow crank, fluke or frog. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.
