How To Spend Father's Day on Lake LBJ

It’s no secret that Father’s Day is coming up - it’s this Sunday! If you don’t already have plans, we’ve got some great ideas for you - spend the day (or weekend) on Lake LBJ! The weather looks like it’s going to be perfect, too, not a cloud in the sky. So let’s take a look at what fun Father’s Day activities are going on around the lake this Sunday.

Horseshoe Bay Resort

If you want to treat your dad (or husband, for being a great dad) to a spectacular weekend, there’s no better way than to book the Father’s Day weekend at Horseshoe Bay Resort. He can spend the day golfing, enjoy a massage, plus a dinner with the whole family. Or - if it’s more up your alley - they’re also offering a sunset cruise on the lake with everyone in your family, too! It’s just what the doctor ordered for a relaxing weekend on Father’s Day.

Can’t spend the whole weekend out on the lake? There’s an answer for that, too.

Torr Na Loch’s Winery Father’s Day Celebration

Is your dad the wine connoisseur of the family? Maybe he would enjoy an afternoon at Torr Na Loch’s where he can hit golf balls on the putting green (and even take one home) while sipping on an incredible glass of wine. This year, Torr Na Loch’s Winery Father’s Day celebration seems to have really outdone itself - providing a simple, yet great way to honor all dads.

If your dad isn’t into golfing or wine tasting, or really, any of the above - don’t worry! Since the weather this weekend is going to be practically perfect (especially for a Texas summer), spending the day out on the water would be an incredible way to celebrate. There are plenty of boat rentals or other water crafts that you can rent around Lake LBJ so don’t shy away!

Fishing Report from TPWD (Apr. 24)

FAIR. Water stained; 74 degrees; 0.27 feet below pool. Crappie are fair in 10-20 feet of water on brush piles with chartreuse jigs. Report by Jess Rotherham, Texas Crappie Fishing Service. Bass are good with a few fish on beds, but there are still plenty in the backs of pockets so use shallow moving baits like a wake bait, swimbait or frog to get some of those good ones. Skipping docks is always a good way to load the boat too using a weightless wacky worm or a jig to get some good bites. Do not forget to run the bulkheads with a shallow crank, fluke or frog. Report by Bryan Cotter, Texas Hawgs.
