Take A Train Ride Through the Texas Hill Country

All aboard the Hill Country Flyer!

Now that it’s Fall, Halloween is just around the corner… literally. And - what’s Halloween without pumpkins?

This month, the Austin Steam Train Association adds a special twist to their regular train tour. The train typically takes passengers on a gorgeous ride through the Texas Hill Country. But, in October, the 16th and the 23rd the Hill Country Flyer adds the Pumpkin Express.

The Pumpkin Express is boarded in Cedar Park, Texas and travels all the way to Bertram through the Hill Country. A 3.5 hour ride through beautiful greenery and quaint towns, the Pumpkin Express welcomes all ages!

Visiting the Pumpkin Patch

Once you reach the town of Bertram, the train will stop for half an hour so everyone can visit the pumpkin patch and pick their own pumpkin. It’s a great way to get the first pumpkins of the season! You know you’re all thinking about making pumpkin seeds now… Isn’t that the best part of Fall?

Pack A Lunch!

The train is boarded at 11am on both the 16th and the 23rd in Cedar Park. Although it returns from Bertram at 2:30pm, you’ll want to pack a lunch to bring with you. While picking pumpkins, you can enjoy some delicious apple cider but don’t forget to bring some snacks and other food with you!

Bring the Whole Family

Everyone is welcome aboard the Pumpkin Express. Babies, children, teens, adults, grandparents, seniors - all ages! It’s the perfect way to kick off the beautiful Fall season (and it’s exceptionally beautiful right now). Tickets are on sale online at the Austin Steam Train Association.

Don’t miss out on one of the best ways to see the true Texas Hill Country and learn about historic towns and trains!
